About Us
As the newest addition to the UMW family, Group Mobility & Innovation was established in January 2021 as one of the primary functions of UMW Group Corporate. Under the leadership and guidance of the Group Chief Mobility & Innovation Officer, this division actively seeks out, identifies and explores business opportunities linked to emerging mobility solutions and sustainable innovations.
These functions are performed via its two segments – Mobility, which consists of Auto Strategy, Execution & Monitoring and Otomobil Sejahtera (OSSB), and Innovation, which comprises UMW Innovation and R&D Centre (UIRDC) and Incubation & Go-To-Market.
Understanding the importance of good market insights and business intelligence to keep abreast of the ever-evolving automotive industry, Group Mobility & Innovation has formed the Auto Strategy and the Execution & Monitoring Department primarily to add value to UMW’s automotive sectors. This department is run by a small yet diverse team of highly-performant and proficient individuals with a vast experience in the automotive business, especially in downstream activities.

Otomobil Sejahtera (OSSB)
OSSB was founded in 1985 and is currently the only authorized Approved Permit holder for the import of Complete Built-Up (CBU) Toyota and Lexus vehicles into Malaysia. Backed by its long-standing experience in the automotive industry, OSSB operates a 1S Toyota showroom and dealership in Seri Kembangan and is currently working on expanding its business model.
UMW Innovation and R&D Centre Sdn Bhd (UIRDC)
As the newest company formed under Group Mobility & Innovation, UIRDC is the hub and headquarters for innovation, research and development for UMW Group. Driven by the Group’s vision of creating in-house, premium products and processes, UIRDC plays a critical role in navigating UMW Group towards achieving value creation, and an even more vital role in accelerating the manufacture of innovative products and processes to provide a competitive advantage to the Group and the automotive industry as a whole. The company’s current focus is on the development of sustainable innovation, nurturing in-house capabilities and in transforming high-potential ideas into tangible, innovative products and services, while at the same time establishing strategic collaborations with government agencies, universities, research centres and other stakeholders.
Incubation & Go-To-Market
The establishment of the Incubation & Go-To-Market department was founded on the goal and idea of providing UMW Group with competitive returns and sustainable growth. This department formulates and executes action plans in introducing new products and services to existing and new markets, using its expertise to expand the Group’s reach, with a focus on green products and solutions.
